Canoeing

Canoeing, what a better way to enjoy the outdoors, take in some sun, and relax. The Reel Inn shares frontage with the Au Train river as it winds its way from Au Train Lake to Lake Supeior. Check out the map to see just how winding a river can be. Canoes can be rented down the road for around $20 a day. See what gorp says about the Au Train river.

Mountain Biking

During the summer months the snowmobile trails provide excellent access to many trails.

Lake Superior sunset

Fishing

Where do I even begin with fishing? Lake Superior has excellent stocks of Salmon, Lake trout and many other species. AuTrain lake has great walleye fishing in the summer and winter seasons. Charter boats are available out of Munising and Marquette.

Skiing

Even though we are not loacated in the Rockies you can still enjoy top quality downhill and cross country skiing. Marquette Mountain is only located 20 miles to the west and provides cheap lift rates and is open usually mid Nov through April. If you like venturing through the woods on cross country skis then you are sure to enjoy the many trails located in Alger County.

Snowmobiling

With hundreds of inches of snowfall every winter you are sure to find some of the best snowmobiling in the midwest. Although there are hundreds of miles of groomed trails you are definitely encouraged to explore some of the unplowed county and forest service roads. Snowmobile rental is available less than three blocks from the cabin at competitive rates or you can check other places by clicking here.
